The Kauai Inn

The staff here are fantastic. They go the extra mile to make you feel welcome. The property has some wear and tear to it, but overall not bad considering its age. And it is secluded, which is both good and bad. Good as in very quiet and relaxing, but bad if you wanted to be steps from the beach. Although the waterfront is only about a mile away. And they have live Hawaiian style music on the patio, which is a very nice touch. They light tiki torches at night, which gives it an extra Hawaiian feel. The mountain range behind the property is amazing.

uch a lovely spot! Felt very local and genuine. The staff were so kind and helpful. The surrounding scenery was beautiful and the grounds were so well kept. They played Hawaiian music by the pool all day which really set the vibe. The continental breakfast was convenient - and they served fresh picked oranges from their property apparently. Accessible location. Rooms had an old school “Havana” type vibe, somewhat dated. Clean as can be. Quiet area. Well worth the affordable price. Will be staying here again when we visit Kauai!

Beautiful. Peaceful. Welcoming. Relaxing. Definitely stay here. Rooms are dated, somewhat worn, and are small but they are a nice local and cozy feel. Very quiet here and always a breeze! Rooms have air conditioning if needed. There is a little continental breakfast in the morning which is great and we had a peacock visit us for breakfast! The roosters woke me up a time or two but they are all over the place! There are lots of chickens and cats around and they are a pleasure to watch roaming around. The staff here are all friendly and helpful and the overall stay was wonderful!

Older inn. Simple but great place to stay, especially for budget travelers. Very friendly, helpful staff, from front desk folks to groundskeeper to the cleaning staff. Clean rooms. Bed comfortable, good shower. Small patio overlooking mountains - great view. Nice size inn - nothing too far away. Live music poolside in the evening 3x/week. Continental breakfast included cereals, yogurt, bagels, muffins, croissants, and fresh fruit. Coffee and tea available 24hrs. Plenty of seating in courtyard around the pool. Easy to get into Lihue - easy drive but also easy walk. Small bridge out during our stay, but is opening soon. Couldn't drive into Lihue but able to walk. Would absolutely stay again.

We stayed here 35 days and thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s an unassuming, very relaxing, and peaceful place. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The room was clean. It’s convenient to shopping and Kalapaki beach. We loved looking at the mountains. There’s live music M,W,F and an outdoor movie on Saturday. This little part of paradise is special.

We had a great experience staying at the Kauai Inn. Beautiful property surrounded by mountains. Staff is very friendly. Offered us early check in as well. Rooms are spacious. Bath is spacious too. Closet is big and good storage space available. They do offer beach towels and other stuff upon request. Breakfast was simple yet delicious. Plenty of birds are roaming around the property- we saw multiple peacocks. They also do movie night under the skies on Saturday which we enjoyed. Overall a great service and highly recommend them.

The ambiance and natural vibes of this hotel are truly amazing. We stayed for a couple of nights, and the whole area felt so peaceful—except for the occasional chicken saying hello in the morning, which honestly added to the charm. The hotel also provides breakfast from 7 to 9 a.m., which was a nice and convenient start to the day. If you’re looking for a quiet getaway surrounded by nature, this is the perfect place. The front desk staff, Alfred, was wonderful—very welcoming, respectful, and truly exceptional in his customer service. I highly recommend this hotel just based on his hospitality alone. I didn’t catch the name of the lady working in the morning, but she was also incredibly kind. She even handed out fresh flowers to the girls, which was such a sweet and thoughtful touch. Overall, we had an amazing stay and would definitely come back!

This is the best place to stay on Kauai. It's not the Hyatt or the Hyatt prices but it's a cozy place to stay with a pool and it's very centralized on Kauai. Easy in and out, super friendly staff,clean rooms and comfy beds. 10/10 recommend

We spent 4 nights here after spending 5 on the Big Island. The primary reason we chose this place comparative to other hotels were the inclusive pricing such as the continental breakfast, and parking which were additional costs elsewhere. The property is beautiful, there’s a pool where it was mainly used by kids. There’s animals on the property we were welcomed by peacocks and chickens, roosters, cats every morning. If you don’t have an appetite for pesky chickens annoying you around your chair during breakfast time, then you may not enjoy your time here much. We knew that our days on this island were going to be adventurous and we wouldn’t stay at the hotel for long. Every day we’d leave after our continental breakfast which was between 7am and 9am. This included items such as bagels, muffins, flavoured yogurt, chocolate/milk, and fresh citrus fruit. One evening on Wednesday there was a music night with a few local singers playing trending mainstream pop and Hawaiian songs. That was a fun evening to relax and listen to. The rooms were ok. They were clean but very old looking, more of a senior-residence facility than in a charming way. The staff here are phenomenal and kind. Everyone was a pleasure to speak to - Chris, Kina, Jessica, Kimmy, Alfred. Chris would hand out hibiscus flowers to all the women at breakfast time which I found very wholesome. The bottom line: If you prioritize a place where you can rest your head and not have to worry about breakfast, this place is it. If you are planning to spend more of your time relaxing in a hotel room and care about the amenities, I would look elsewhere.

The Kauai Inn is a charming retreat tucked away in the foot of the mountains. It's a quiet area, the a/c works very well and the rooms are clean. The property is well maintained. The views are gorgeous. They have live entertainment a few times a week. It has more of a rustic vibe, rather than being a flashy resort, which my husband and I loved, as it made us feel like we're getting a genuine island experience. The cats and birds on the property made for entertaining mornings on the patio and I befriended a few of the felines. Tourist attractions were close by, even with the bridge closure. We would stay here again.
